Opera Bespoke’s Singing Waiters perform at Kent Wedding in Tropical Temperatures

3rd Aug 2011

Finally the hot weather has arrived! The UK has experienced a tropical heat wave over the past few weeks with temperatures soaring above 32 degrees in some parts of the South East and London. Our Singing Waiters have been particularly in demand for weddings during these Summer months and with the sun shining what better entertainment than a selection of Italian opera classics to bring weddings to life and leave guests with lasting memories and a truly unique experience.
Kent is known as the” Garden of England” and the description is said to go back to Henry VIII’s time. The countryside is decorated with rolling hills, beautiful oast houses and hop gardens.   Opera Bespoke was invited to perform during the wedding breakfast of a private wedding for over 150 guests. The Singing Waiters were a surprise from the groom for his bride and their guests. He wanted to make their wedding day extra special and ensure that it was a day to remember for years to come.
The wedding breakfast took place in a stunning marquee which was decked out in English country garden style with beautiful pastel pinks, blues and lilacs which radiated in the warm sunshine.   Bunting decorated the rafters and woven baskets filled with stephanotis flowers filled the air with their sweet perfume.
Following the surprise announcement that the Head Waiter was leaving, guests were amazed by the powerful performances of our world class tenor and soprano.  Their selection of popular opera tunes had everyone singing along and raising their champagne glasses in the air. There was a special request for “O Sole Mio” (otherwise known as “Just One Cornetto”)to be sung just as desserts were served…….miniature ice cream cones dusted in pastel luster dust which guests savoured with delight as our tenor wowed them with his high notes!   As our performers sang their last duet, there were cries for an “encore” and of course, our soprano and tenor did not disappoint.
“Thank you so much for the superb singing at our wedding.  Sonya absolutely loved every minute of the show and our guests were totally bowled over by the singing. Thanks again for making our wedding day so special”
And now for our weekly opera fact:   Did you know that one of the greatest tenors of the 20th Century, Luciano Pavarotti, once sold insurance in order to pay for his singing lessons? We wonder whether he used the same company to insure his vocal cords once he reached the height of his stellar career!
