Landmark London Opera Gala

21st Nov 2011

Earlier this month we were invited to provide opera gala entertainment at the luxurious Landmark London hotel. The stunning Winter Garden restaurant with its soaring eight-storey glass atrium and surrounding balconies was transformed into an elegant stage for an exclusive Night at the Opera Gala Dinner.

The evening offered guests a gourmet six-course meal with matching wines in the two AA rosette Winter Garden restaurant, interspersed with segments of opera.  An evening to suit opera buffs and beginners alike, our superb opera soloists and pianist - who have performed with the country's top opera houses and orchestras - transported guests through the ages of opera with opoular arias, duets and trios from Handel, Mozart, Bizet, Verdi, Puccini and Strauss.
The programme of opera comprised some of the most beautiful music to grace the operatic stage to appeal to both the lifelong opera lover and the opera novice.  The programme moved through the early 1700’s with arias such as “Lascia Ch’io Pianga” from Handel’s “Rinaldo” of the Baroque era, to Mozart whose dramatic and musical genius is one of the greatest achievements in the history of opera and whose enduring arias and duets such as “Canzonetta Sull’Aria” from The Marriage of Figaro and “Ach Ich Fühls” never cease to delight audiences.  The evening ended with some wonderful French opera from composers such as Bizet and Berlioz. Of course, an opera gala would not be complete without Italian Grand Opera and Verismo and the well known dramatic arias such as “Nessun Dorma” and “La Donna E Mobile” stunned guests with their beauty.
Our soloists wore stunning period costumes and masks to reflect each operatic era and appeared draped in gold, feathers, velvet and silk as a feast for the eyes as well as the ears to enhance the magical atmosphere. We will be posting the wonderful photos shortly on our site. This is just a taster for a series of Opera Galas scheduled for 2012 at the Landmark London. Keep an eye open for the 2012 dates shortly....
