Singing Waiters at Ocado Charity Ball

Singing Waiters, Ocado Charity Ball

Our singing waiters were delighted to perform for over 250 guests at Ocado’s Charity Ball in aid of their charity of the year, Macmillan Cancer Support.  Ocado booked our world class singing waiters to provide surprise entertainment for both employees and suppliers at a fundraising dinner at Sopwell House in St Albans.   The ballroom was the perfect backdrop the fun-filled opera-themed evening and our surprise performance.

Macmillan Cancer Support provides practical, medical and financial support for better cancer care. With more people living with cancer than ever before, the need for this charity’s work is constantly growing. Thanks to their loyal supporters, nearly 98% of their income comes from voluntary giving and fundraising.  At Opera Bespoke we are keen to support worthy causes and our singing waiters pushed out all the stops to help raise money for this worthy cause.

The evening’s entertainment started with a drinks reception in the beautiful gardens of Sopwell House while silhouette artists made pictures of guests sipping their cocktails in the autumn sunshine. A sumptuous 3 course dinner followed where our singing waiters charmed guests as they poured wine and attended to their every request to ensure everyone was truly surprised when later that evening, they had the opportunity of listening to the country’s top opera singers singing live, up close, especially for them.

Following the surprise and comical introduction from our singing waiters, Ocado’s guests were overawed by the outstanding performances from our world class opera singers.  Our Welsh tenor wowed the audience with his impressive high notes in “La Donna E Mobile”, while our soprano serenaded the gentlemen with her rendition of the “Habanera”.  The ladies in the audience were mesmerised by the passion of our Italian tenor in his exciting version of “Granada”.

The performance culminated with a stunning rendition of “Nessun Dorma” which brought every guest to their feet in rapturous applause. Ocado’s guests certainly enjoyed participating by energetically waving their napkins in the air during the sing along chorus of “Funiculi Funicula”, dancing and waving their glasses from side to side as they savoured the “Brindisi” from La Traviata sung at its best.

A fantastic time was had by all and more importantly, a lot of money was raised for a great cause, £17,800 to be exact.

"We've had amazing feedback from our guests about your singing waiters performance and I thought they were perfect! Our CEO came up to me and said how wonderful he thought the singing waiters were and all of the Board absolutely loved it."
